 Pollution is economically viable
Much of what is done to the world might not be allowed today if humans enjoyed a much longer lifespan... one that allowed us to be around long enough to witness for ourselves the consequences of our actions and their long-term ramifications.
Today, many large corporations participate in "externalizing cost", which means they exploit anyone and anything in order to pay less, produce more, and gain a higher profit. Which ultimately means that somebody else will have to pay for all the things being "externalized". They do this because they have to compete with other businesses and must be able to have financial power in order to navigate the capitalist "free market" systems.
For large corporations, often times the bottom line is their... well... bottom line. Profit. Money. How much money they can make and keep. And the easiest way to keep a profit is to externalize your costs onto something that will unconditionally receive your cost and never complain. In this, nature and our environment has become the perfect "solution"... because seemingly endless amounts of toxic waste, chemical pollutants, and effluents are dumped or released into the atmosphere for free instead of having to pay for these waste materials to be treated and taken care of properly so that it does not damage the environment or other living beings.
Yet... what is not considered is consequence. Long term consequences are often ignored because the operating mentality is to "externalize the cost", which means that some future generation or some foreign country can pay for the effects of our pollution and reckless abuse of the environment.
This model is quickly proving disastrous. The earth has been abused to a sickening degree. The enormity of humanity's disregard for life has rendered a terrible cost... and it is a price we have now been forced to lay upon countless future generations.
All to save some more money. All for the bottom line.

This money thing is just insane... damn How the hell can we not all see this. Thousands of years have gone by and we still react in the same ways, and are driven by self intrest.
